A new Bobby Ball Statue has been commissioned, celebrating the life of the British comic, actor and TV host. Bobby Ball sadly died on 28 October 2020 at the age of 76 after contracting coronavirus.
Fylde Council, Lowther Trust, the Ball family, and the Bobby Ball Foundation are raising £100,000 for a special memorial statue. In tribute of the friend and local legend, it’s to be sited in Lowther Gardens.
The life size bronze statue will be located close to the theatre in Lowther Gardens. A celebration event will reveal the work on 28 August 2022.
He was a patron of Lowther Pavilion, performing at the venue many times. The first play he wrote was Rock Off Tommy. Local community group Fylde Coast Players staged it there, there seven years ago.
The Friends of Lowther Pavilion formed in 2008. They campaign and raise funds to help save the theatre and ensure its continued survival. Bobby was part of the team that spearheaded the first fundraising efforts for the theatre and gardens.
The New Bobby Ball Statue
It was July 2021 when an artist was commissioned to produce the Bobby Ball statue.
The design of the 1.5 x lifesize statue will portray Bobby as his 40th birthday appearance. With a ‘twinkle in his eye’ and one leg slightly forward. He’s slightly pulling on his right brace with his right thumb.
Ben Twiston-Davies, was unanimously chosen from four submissions received. The London based figurative sculptor has produced the artwork to commemorate the life of the British comic, actor and TV host.

Representatives from Bobby Ball’s family, Fylde Council and the Lowther Gardens Lytham Trust chose Ben. He produced the Agatha Christie memorial. And a bronze statue of Ebenezer Howard, the founder of the Garden City movement, installed in April 2021.
