Lytham is a compact town centre with plenty of independent retailers and national names

Lytham has a great town centre - the pretty Clifton Square, plenty of independent shops and high street names, nearby parking, cafes, and proximity to the seafront and Lytham Green.

Clifton Square, Lytham Town Centre

Lytham has been a shopping centre since the 1870’s, when the Market Hall was built by the Lytham Commissioners, who promptly claimed the building for their own offices!

Today, the building still stands (above), surrounded by the beautiful Memorial Gardens, and is home to individual shops, for which it was originally converted in the 1890’s.

Independent Stores & High Street Names

Most of today’s shops at Lytham are on Clifton Street (below), extending out to Park Street and Church Road.

You’ll find high street names like Tesco Express and Boots, but the majority of the retailers at Lytham are independent stores, from the small gift shops, boutiques and jewellers through to the large Stringers department store which is located on two sites – home wares is co-loated with Booths supermarket on Haven Road, just off Station Road.

Lytham is a compact town centre where you’ll find the stores arranged side by side, so that your time is spent browsing and not in walking between stores!

Cafes and Restaurants

You’ll find lots of cafes with outdoor seating where you can take a breather and watch the world go by.

It’s a popular shopping centre with locals along with visitors all around the area, for the good mix of restaurants, bistros, coffee shops and more.

Don't forget the very important ice cream man, who is always to be found in Clifton Square on sunny days, vending delicious treats from his bicycle freezer box!

Car Parking

There's free on street parking along Clifton Street and the adjoining side streets (mixture of one and two hour stay) with pay and display car parks in the town centre and on Lytham Green which is only a short walk away from the shops.
